African Hair Braiding

There are so many varieties of African hair braiding styles that you will find wearing it on every occasion once you start experimenting with it. Proms, meetings, formal social gatherings, conferences, graduations and weddings are formal functions and you are certainly required to show up in a look that brings out your gentle and sophisticated side.

If you pull out any magazine these days, you will see celebrities and business women using African hair braiding hair styles on every occasion there is. One side hair braiding style has been made very popular by the artist Lauren Conrad of the hills fame and you will also see fashion designer Nicole Richie wearing braided headbands casually as well as on formal occasions. Some people might find headbands a little over done of a formal ceremony but you can minimize its effect by making up a side swept headband that starts from a partition of hair you make.

A classical hairstyle that works well at both weddings and proms is the Edwardian hairstyle. The African  hair braiding style might be a bit difficult to do it yourself the first couple of time but you can get it done nonetheless. Take a section of hair from the temple area and start twisting it towards the back of your head. Add more even sections of hair as you go and make sure that you are keeping the sections beautifully gentle and separated at the upper end as it will be appearing the most. Once you’ve reached the length of your neck secure that section of hair and work the same way at the other side of your head. Eventually tie your hair carefully with a band. Make sure that you have enough bobby pins while starting to do this hairstyle as it requires a lot of hair securing. This might not be braiding in particular but it is an ideal hairstyle for people who have weak hair that would easily break if subjected to the slightest tension.

The Edwardian hairstyle can be made more dramatic by adding a braid at the end of the twisting instead of tying your hair altogether. You can use the common three sectional braids or go for English braid. You can also add a few extra accessories to your hair like flowers of different colored pins to make sure that you rise up to the occasion.

The French tuck is another great hair braiding style if you have short lengthen hair or want to wear your hair in kind of an up do look. You can glamorize the hairstyle by purchasing beautiful and stylish hair sticks or other hair accessories you might like. Simply make a French braid and instead of braiding the entire till the end of your hair length, tie the hair into a ponytail after you are done working at the scalp area. Fold your hair and tuck it below the braided area and secure it with few bobby pins. It is a very elegant African hair braiding hair style and you won’t have to worry about checking you hair time and again.
